Brian Penney’s outstanding contributions have made the workplace safer and better for his colleagues.<\/p>\n

Brian, the Safety Manager at Drax\u2019s Entwistle facility in Alberta, continuously meets monthly safety objectives and supports the facility\u2019s 55 employees to ensure objectives are met. An example of his dedication was putting in extra time and energy during an 11-day shutdown to see to it that everyone went home safely at the end of every day.<\/p>\n

Corinne Nendick, Plant Leadhand at Drax\u2019s Princeton facility is an active member of Drax\u2019s Joint Safety team. She is a leader in developing and working through Task Risk Assessments. She is also a leader regarding Hazard IDs and corrective actions. She is proudly accident\/incident free.<\/p>\n

Always striving for continuous improvement, Corinne has taken the WorkSafeBC Process Safety course to improve her understanding of safety and Drax-specific courses such as Train the Trainer and Diversity and Inclusion to enhance her knowledge of company policies.<\/p>\n

Buddy (William) Berg, plant operator with Premium Pellets, walks the talk and his can-do attitude led to a leading role in WPAC\u2019s safety video<\/a>, The<\/em> Power of Pellets: Innovating Our Way to a Safer Better Product<\/em>, while he was working as the plant\u2019s interim production supervisor. Buddy also served as a key member of the bow tie analysis workshop team for WPAC\u2019s critical control management project. His extensive expertise and valuable insights helped develop a clear picture of potential risks and the safeguards in place to prevent an unwanted event or incident. Cody Braun, plant operator with Premium Pellets, played a key role in providing input into WPAC\u2019s and BC Forest Safety Council\u2019s e-learning platform<\/a>. In order to have a smooth rollout of the program, operators were needed to review the modules and identify any gaps in content and subject matter that needed clarification. Along with operators from facilities across Canada, Cody completed the review of four important plant operator modules and recommended several key improvements. As industry leaders, converting local biomass waste into high-quality biofuel products, the company\u2019s safety culture is the top priority. Donald has been instrumental in training new assistant operators to safely perform their job functions.
